Middle Church Rising
In 2020, Middle Church lost its sanctuary in a fire. It was a huge loss for so many who cared deeply about the space and what it held.
After the fire, they searched the rubble for pieces of the original Tiffany stained glass windows. I was honored when they asked if I could turn those found fragments into jewelry as part of Middle Church’s rising.
I love what Middle Church stands for and the way they bring together faith, art, music and social justice. Their work has had a deep impact on their local community in NYC and beyond, and will for years to come.
I learned a lot through this process. Glass is fragile, can crack unexpectedly, and at times it guided the designs more than the other way around. It was exciting, curious, meaningful work.
Thank you Macky Alston and Reverend Jacqui Lewis for your trust and for such a joyful collaboration, and thank you Brooke Williams for making this connection. ❤️
